Illinois CCCA Sectional

CCCA Illinois held their annual Sectional conference this week. Walacamp staff joined 50 camp professionals for times of fellowship, learning, and networking with each other to share new ideas and strengthen partnerships.

Walcamp's Ben Konrad facilitated a round-table session on Outdoor Education as one of several opportunities for professional growth. Keynote speaker Lon Alderman, of Acorn Ministries, challenged participants to use the conference as a time to re-charge their emotional, physical, and spiritual batteries and to refresh, reflect on what God has done in the last yer, and to re-focus on what His priorities and plans are for the future.

The event took place at Camp Reynaldswood in Dixon, IL. Other notable events included a passing on of the Section President's gavel, a snow-woman named iLean, late-night cross-country skiiing, an silent-turned-live auction, times of conversation and prayer, and highly competative games of Settlers of Cataan and Ticket to Ride, as camp staff mapped out their devious plans on how to take over the world.

The Christian Camping and Conference Association (CCCA) is a national network of organizations seeking to build partnerships between Christian camp professionals. For more information on future Illinois CCCA events visit http://illinois.ccca.com/.

Homeschool Winter Wonderland

This year's first homeschool event was a success! Last week, local homeschool families visited Walcamp for a day of winter fun in the snow. Students ages 4-12 participated in a snowshoe hike, studied ice and how snowflakes are formed, learned to cross-country ski, and participated in winter games.

Walcamp's March Homeschool Days event theme is an African Cultural Fair, hosted in partnership with Lutheran Bible Translators (http://www.lbt.org/). For more information visit our website at www.walcamp.org/oe

New Experiences at Walcamp

Greetings, citizens of the World Wide Web.

This is exciting! I have been thinking about starting a media blog for Walcamp for some time now, as a way of providing short news bites and information about the goings-on at this wonderful place.

And here it is!

God's blessings to you, and I look foward to blogging with you in the future.
